Out of town participants must be prepared to play until 7pm on Sunday, May 21st.

** Indicated prize money based on a full 24 team tournament. If less than 24 teams participate in the tournament, the prize money will be reduced proportionally per division. The Tournament Organizer may combine divisions if there are not enough registrants to structure a complete draw.

Tournament Fees:

There is a 24 team registration limit,
so reserve your spot early!

  • $350/team of 8, EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION BY DEC. 31, 2005**
  • $375/team of 8 (post-dated cheque for May 1, 2006)
  • +$35/player over the 8 player limit

**EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION BONUS!! First three Women's teams and first three Men's teams to pay with a post-dated cheque will receive a free tournament t-shirt for every team member (maximum 8).  

Tournament email updates to captains begin April 1, 2006.

Cancellation Refund Schedule:
January 1, 2006 - 90% cheque refund
February 1, 2006 - 80% cheque refund
March 1, 2006 - 70% cheque refund
April 1, 2006 - 60% cheque refund (upon finding a replacement team)
May 1, 2006 - 50% cheque refund (upon finding a replacement team)

TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS

Team Uniforms:
Jerseys mandatory.
Suggest 8 inch number on the back and 4 inch number on front chest.
Team shorts must be consistent and contrasting in colour.
Liberties: Sleeve length, but shirts must match. Shirts under uniform.

ONE non-Asian player is allowed on the court/team. You may carry two non-Asian players on your team roster.
The "libero" rule will be used.

ONLY WATER PERMITTED IN THE GYM
Captains shall ensure teammates and spectators
adhere to this facility rule.

You take lunch when you are not playing.
Captains, ensure you supply the Tournament Coordinator with contact telephone numbers, addresses, & emails of your teammates.

Event Schedule:
Sat., May 20, 2006 7:00am Captains' meeting. NO EXCEPTIONS.
7:30 Gym ready for team warm-up. Teams check-in, issuance of dinner/social tickets & early bird registration gifts. Get your teammates warming up in the gym.
8:00 Start of first round robin match. Registered teams ref -- all round robin matches are 0 – 25, 0- 25, all capped; or match time limit (teams must supply a ref, umpire, scorekeeper & 2 linespeople). All second matches have been allocated. Refereeing teams initiate coin toss & start/concludes format warm-up.
6:00pm Start of last round robin match.

Looking for 4 event volunteers to assist at dinner/social.
Tournament participant dinner tickets will only be honored from 7:30 - 8:30pm on Sat., May 20, 2006. Additional dinner tickets are $20/person and may be purchased Saturday morning, only at the tournament.


Event Schedule:

Sun., May 21, 2006 7:45am Gym ready for team warm-up.
8:00 Refereeing teams initiate coin toss & start/concludes format warm-up. Start of first double knockout play-off match. Teams to supply a referee, umpire, scorekeeper & 2 linespeople.
Front door: 0 – 25, 0- 25, 0 – 15, all cap.
Back door: 0 – 31, all cap.

In order for me to facilitate double knockout play-offs I require your cooperation to start play at 8:00am on Sat., May 20th & Sun., May 21st. The championship game is one match. The winner on the back door side does not have to win 2 matches to be crowned champion. We must vacate the gym no later than 5:00pm Sun, May 21, 2006.

Libero Defined:

The Libero is restricted to perform as a back row player and is not allowed to complete an attack from anywhere if at the moment of contact the ball is entirely above the top of the net. A teammate may not complete an attack hit, when, at the moment of attack hit, the ball is entirely above the top of the net, if the ball is coming from an overhead finger pass by a Libero in the front zone. The ball may be freely attacked if the Libero makes the same action from behind the front zone.

The Libero is allowed to replace any player in the back row position. Replacements involving the Libero are not counted as regular substitutions. They are unlimited, but there must be a rally between two Libero replacements. The Libero can not be replaced by the player they replace. Maximum of 12 substitutions per game.

The Libero may not block or attempt to block.

The Libero must wear a different color/design top in contrast to other members of the team.

Effective for the 2006 Asian Invitational:

$200 Performance Bond

Tournament: If a team is not present at a tournament they registered in, they will lose their entry fee and performance bond. If a team cancels their registration after the tournament deadline of May 1, 2006, they will lose their entry fee. If they cancel before the deadline, their entry fee will be credited to them less a $25 administrative fee.

Officiating: If a team is late or does not perform their officiating tasks, they will lose their performance bond. A portion of the performance bond will go to the team or teams who did the officiating.

Uniform: If a team does not wear required uniforms, they will lose their performance bond.

Registration: If a non-registered player participates in the tournament, the team will lose their performance bond.
